Visitors would do well to stick to well populated and well lit areas once it gets dark. Understand that the crime rate in Columbus is on the rise and it is better to play safe. Similarly, the Public safety and the Police department are a bit too concerned about keeping the city clean. Littering and Jaywalking can fetch you hefty tickets and hidden cameras can mean more trouble. Speeding- even a mile above the stipulated limit will also attract stiff fines.
While those were the precautions you could take, Columbus does offer a slew of special events throughout the calendar. Timing your visit with an event that attracts your interests will enhance your vacation experience in Columbus.
