The Nationwide Better Health Columbus Marathon: Getting Ready to Enjoy the Event
The Columbus Marathon sponsored by The Nationwide Better Health is a flat fast course marathon event. It starts from the crossroads of Broad and Third Street in downtown and continues via Bexley, Governor's Manson, Capital University, German Village, and Short North Art District to end in the Nationwide Arena in the Arena District.
The marathon was first started in the year 1980, and is the stepping stone for Boston Marathon. The event welcomes participants from all age groups. The prize distribution ceremony also offers different prizes to different age groups. The event not only features running, but it also incorporates half marathon and walking.
The management designed the marathon and the course very scientifically. Different courses and marathon distances are designed according to the category. For children of age group 1 to 3, the distance is usually 60 yards. The authorities have started a new course incorporating the valuable inputs from the participants, known as the Coral. The course is designed in such a way that the participants of the half and full marathon will begin simultaneously until the half marathon runners turns left.
To park your car during the event as a spectator there are several garages like Columbus City Center parking Garage and Statehouse parking garage. The registration fee for the full marathon is $85 and the half one is $70. The participants are allowed to run with I-pods and other electronic devices. To participate in the full marathon the participant must be 16 years of age and for the half marathon 12 years.
