When you travel to Columbus, you will find subway Columbus very convenient for visitors. Subway Columbus is a public sector transit service mostly maintained by Central Ohio Transit Authority. The agency serves Franklin County and Central Ohio area including Columbus. It currently manages the bus service, light rail and street car services. Its administrative offices and the bus service garages are located near Franklinton, downtown Columbus.

Subway Columbus provides transit to nearly 50,000 weekday rides by 234 buses in 53 different routes. In total it serves an area of nearly 562 square miles of central Ohio with nearly 4000 bus stops. It also has nearly 380 bus shelters along with 29 par and ride to its facilities. It totals nearly 14.6 million riders till date. A variety of bus services make up to its fleet.

Subway Columbus has the New Flyer that is the most common to its fleet. There are certain older models that include Nova LFS and Flexible Metro. The latest models would include low floor Gillig in both 35 feet and 40 feet models. Tough fast tracx North corridor is permanently tabled in its list, but it has failed in secure funding the light rail line, street car and bus rapid transit lines in recent years.

Subway Columbus has failed to meet the federal feasibility regulations and never received any fund to cover half the cost of the project. The city is still considering of building a street car system but light rail lines cannot be expected in the near future. The transit system also tested a 20% blend of biodiesel in its services and in 2006 it also began the usage of biodiesel fleet-wide.

Subway Columbus also plans to use more than 50 to 90% biodiesel blends during the summer time. This would indeed lower the regular diesel consumption with over one million gallons per year. The switch can simply create a reduction in the amount of carbon monoxide into the atmosphere. It is also one of the fleets in United States to switch to biodiesel blends.
