Columbus is well known for the many events that are held in the region. "Red, White and Boom" is a common phrase associated with firework celebrations before or on the eve of Independence Day, July 4 in the United States. The phrase derives its origin from the blue, white and red color of the American Flag.

Red, White and Boom fireworks happen all across America but the Columbus celebrations draws the largest crowd attendance of more than 750,000. It was started by TV networks in 1981 in the Bicentennial Park. The celebrations are done on the last weekend before the Independence Day so that individual fireworks can be enjoyed on the D-Day.

The stages for the celebration are organized at both Battelle Park and Bicentennial Park. Normally the events start at noon as both the stages drawing crowds in thousands but the excitement is so high that people start camping in the parks overnight to find a place in the heavily crowded park.

Tourists are advised to book hotels in advance as it is heavily crowded on the day of the event. The downtown Columbus area allots parking zones for people driving in. These parking zones are well connected to the event locations by bus services. It is advised that tourists to travel Columbus use public conveyance as the roads are most likely to be jammed with traffic.

Red, White and Boom is a mega event and the festivities are endless. The event is now organized by Pyrotecnico fireworks of Pennsylvania.
