It is grouped with few other capital cities in terms of high population density. According to the data collected in the census completed in the year 2000, the population of Columbus was 711470.

During the July month of the year 2008, the population was known to be 754885. Out of the total population, 387901 are females are the rest are males. This means the female population percentage is more than the male population percentage. The actual values are 51.4% females and 48.6% males.

All enclosed places which include fleet vehicles and buildings are also supposed to be free from smoking and violations of this rule would be inspected under the administrative Ohio code 3701- 52.

Smoking in places near entrances and exits of buildings which are smoke-free are also prohibited under this law so as to prevent the smoke entering through windows, ventilation systems or doorways.
