Following are the highlights of the 2000 census of Columbus: there were 711,470 people out of which 51.4% were female. While Whites were 66.9% of the population, people who were Hispanic or Latino formed 2.5%. People who were in the age group 25 - 34 years occupied 19.6% while 15.5% of the population was those in the 35 - 44 years category.
54.8% of the population was Family households. 30.9% were Households having individuals who were below 18 years. 15.4% Households had people who were either 65 years old or above it.
