The most congestion prone area on the highways that pass across and link the city of Columbia Ohio is the "South Innerbelt", or what is locally called as "the Spilt". This point, situated within Columbus, lies at the Intersection of the two major Interstate highways that run through Columbia, i.e. the Interstate 70 and Interstate 71.
The Split is actually a stretch of approximately 1.5 miles or 2.4 km that emerges when the two interstate highways of Interstate 70 and 71 respectively combine. This traffic point is notorious for heavy traffic congestion especially during the peak rush hour. Plans are in progress of reconstruction of this stretch in the coming time.
