Ohio State University is a public research university situated in the city of Columbus. This second largest university of Ohio is established in the year 1870. This university stands among the top universities of not just US but also the world.
It is the first university to get the membership of Association of American Universities and the only public university in Ohio which got permission for the classified Doctoral Activity and more selective undergrad admissions from the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
This university consists of various Colleges for Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Optometry, Public Health, Engineering, Arts and Science etc and different schools like School of Environment and Natural Resources, School of Music, Graduate School, John Glenn School of Public Affairs etc.
The University has got best faculty which includes Noble Prize winners, members from National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine and winners of most prestigious Guggenheim Fellowship.
The university has got large campus of 3469 acres in downtown Columbus. It consists of four buildings which are enlisted as historic places on National Register. William Oxley Thompson Memorial Library is the university library's main branch and is the largest repository. It has one of the largest research libraries in US. State College of Medicine is the home of one of the National Cancer institutions and cardiovascular disease research institution.
There are various student organizations to help the students to take an active participation in their field of interest. It is currently offering a tuition fee of $9420 for Ohio residents. It is offering financial aid to the students in the form of loans, scholarships, grants etc. To overcome the shrinking of state funds, the university conducted fundraising campaigns.
