Columbus Day is the most celebrated day for the Americans, which marks the beginning of the colonization of the continents. Columbus, also known as Cristobal Colon is a day acknowledged through North and South America, but its recognition differs for few others.

United States of America: Here the Columbus Day is celebrated in different ways across the Country. California or Hawaii pays homage to the original aboriginal cultures, by performing a powwow feast.
Colombia: In Columbia, it is celebrated as a day of observance and is called DÃa De La Raza (The Day of the Ethnic). The schools and business are set open and so are the federal organizations. Venezuela: Here, it is popularly known as DÃa de la Resistencia Indigena (The Day of the Indigenous Resistance). The day was first celebrated when a 100 year old statue of Columbus was got torn apart in 2004 to announce social equality.
Chile: The day is celebrated as Descubrimiento entre dos Mundos (Day of Discovery Between two Worlds). It is being celebrated here since 1923 and each year it comes on second Monday of October.
