Columbus has a presence of an appealing variety of museums, historic buildings and interesting sightseeing opportunities. Columbus travel visitors can either stroll through the city's various sights themselves or check on the local Columbus tours for a more organized approach to sightseeing. From an afternoon retreat in the park or a simple picnic, to a round of golf, or a technical hike or adventurous sports, there are various activities in the city to keep everyone busy.

Franklin Park Conservatory- Tourists and visitors can begin their Columbus tour by visiting this horticultural landmark. This conservatory boasts of outdoor green spaces of 90 acres, 100 butterfly species, 400 species of plants, a rainforest section, a water garden, a Himalayas replica, bonsai courtyard and an 800 feet model railroad.

Columbus Zoo- This 100 acre of zoo located along the Scioto River's bank has above 600 species including okapi and Humboldt penguins. The zoo is famous for its extensive collection of reptiles and the successful gorilla breeding program. The zoo also has aquarium exhibits.

Santa Maria- Located on the Scioto River's bank it consists of a museum quality, authentic replica of the Santa Maria. Plans from the historical archives based this 77 feet ship which hosts Columbus tours and overnight camps allowing visitors who travel to Columbus to work in teams and learn to load cargo, climb aloft, make rope and grommets, etc, like the 15th century sailors.

Thurber House- The Thurber House is one of the location of Columbus tours which was author James Thurber's home during his collegiate years. A visit can be taken to the first two floors and learn about Thurber's works and his family. The Thurber Center next door hosts writing programs and visiting authors.

Ohio Statehouse- This building of Greek Revival style is considered an important architectural accomplishment. Features of the building include exquisite decors with floors of marble, paintings and statues. The staircase at the centre is offset by murals; the atrium has breathtaking skylights of stained glass.
