
Columbus State Community College Profile - Campuses and Academic programs
The Columbus State Community College started in 1963 with an enrollment of just 67 students and has grown to some 28,000 students in present times. Originally established as the Columbus area Technical School, in modern times, the Columbus State Community College has grown to be a premier seat of higher learning in the nation offering a slew of 2 year career programs in over 50 different disciplines covering business, engineering technologies, human service, health, facility maintenance and public service. Transfer programs to complete the initial two years and transferring then on to a 4 year University are also offered by the College.
Degree programs offered at the College include diverse fields like Architecture, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Nursing, Geographic Information systems, Aviation technology, Law Enforcement, Veterinary Technology, Respiratory Care and more. Notice however, that the Ohio State University and the Columbus Technical College are independent establishments not forming part of the Columbus State Community College.

The Columbus State Community College operates from a sprawling 80 acre campus in Downtown Columbus. The facility comprises of 26 buildings including the book store christened as 'The Discovery Exchange'. Off-campus centers of the college are located at Dublin, Westerville, Gahanna, Marysville, Grandview, Delaware, Grove City, Groveport, Southeast Columbus and Southwest Columbus.
A new 106 acre satellite campus is also under way at Liberty Township in the Southern Delaware County. The new facility is expected to be operational in 2010 and is designed to accommodate over 3000 students.
In addition to the on-site facilities, the college also offers on-line facilities in higher learning. This initiative started in 2007 and has seen an enrollment in excess of 11,000. The college is poised to take this encouraging trend forward to help even larger number of students pursue academic advancement options.
