Columbus's Main Airport is the Port Columbus International Airport, also referred to as Port Columbus.

This Columbus airport is situated 10 kilometers east of downtown Columbus. The code given to the airport is CMH and it send passenger air traffic from 15 different airlines. It is the largest passenger airport in the State of Ohio and also the busiest airport in the State.

Looking a bit into the history of the place… his Columbus airport was started in 1929 and a decade later it was handling about 15 flights per day. Flights flown then were that of Transcontinental and Western Airlines, while some were of American Airlines.

In 1979, the airport underwent a major renovation, as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations. The airport was enhanced to have the capacity to handle 250 flights per day. Ten years later, more renovations were introduced and a seven gate concourse was implemented.

Since 1999 till 2004 a lot of renovations have been done to the airport to improve it and enhance its capacity to handle passenger traffic. Initiatives are in place to continue the renovations and improvements to the airport to the year 2025. The many facilities offered at this Columbus airport include 24-hour cash point ATM's, business centre with spacious meeting rooms in Concourse C, postal service, car hire or car rental companies, numerous shops, disabled parking areas, travel desk, and numerous shops.

Port Columbus is a very busy airport that handles an extensive load of both domestic and international passenger. In addition to being a state-of-the-art airport, it also displays a lot of community art work for which it is well known. Visitors on Columbus OH travel coming here can see children's paintings, photographic work and many other such interesting artworks that will set their imagination off.

The airport can be accessed by car, bus and shuttle services. Cars can reach the airport by getting into exit number nine on Interstate 670 which takes to the International Gateway. Buses can reach the airport through route 92 and route 52 and they are operated by the Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA). There are shuttle services plying from the airport to Downtown Columbus.
